A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Temple Beth El, 333 SW 4th Avenue in  Boca Raton, Florida on Tuesday, January 31. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Beth El Memorial Gardens 4900 Old Griffin Road, Davie, FL. The family will be sitting shiva to receive devoted friends and family whose presence will be a comfort after services on Tuesday and Wednesday, after 1 p.m. on Thursday and Friday morning at the Agler home. Minyanim will take place shortly after sundown each evening.

Tali sought to better the world and she succeeded in doing so–through her work, through her wit and through her love. Her memory is more of a blessing than we can say.

Contributions in Talia’s memory may be made to the Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD) in Nairobi (through Chemonics) or to the Religious Action Center in Washington, DC

I will be leading Shabbat morning services and teaching Torah at the the Keys Jewish Community Center in Tavernier, Florida (on Key Largo) at 10 a.m. on the following upcoming dates: January 28 <POSTPONED RESCHEDULED TBD> and February 11.

I’ll also be teaching a class there on “The Essential Elaments of the Friday Night Serivce–What You Need to Know in Order to Lead One.” That will be on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. <POSTPONED RESCHEDULED TBD> All are welcome!

In February I’ll be traveling to Pittsburgh where I’m scheduled to speak on Friday night the 3rd on the subject of “Celebrating the Absurd.” And yes, it does have something to do with one of my favorite days, Groundhog Day. I’ll also be teaching Torah on Shabbat morning, Feb. 4. All this at Temple Emanuel of the South Hills in Mt. Lebanon, PA.  If you’re in the neighborhood, by all means drop by! <CANCELLED>

As you may know, I announced my retirement from Congregation B’nai Israel of Boca Raton, FL effective August 31, 2011. At the same time the congregation named me “Rabbi Emeritus.”

It is a great honor and it was a great privilege to have been the Founding Rabbi of a synagogue that accomplished as much as this one did during my tenure. To all those who helped make it so, and who have journeyed with me over the past twenty-seven years, I am more grateful than I can say.
